The Balvenie

The Balvenie is a Speyside distillery founded in 1892 by William Grant in Dufftown, beside his earlier Glenfiddich distillery (built in 1886). It is renowned for retaining the traditional "Five Rare Crafts" — its own floor maltings, cooperage and resident coppersmith — making it one of the most self-sufficient malt distilleries in Scotland. Its whiskies are rich and honeyed, defined by varied cask finishing, a technique it famously pioneered.
