The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 YO

Speyside single malt and pioneer of cask finishing, created in 1982 by Malt Master David C. Stewart: first matured in ex-bourbon American oak, then finished for nine months in European oak Oloroso sherry casks. The nose is honeyed — heather honey, vanilla and dried fruit with cinnamon and a hint of almonds. The palate is smooth and mellow, with milk chocolate, toasted hazelnuts and warm spices leading to a long, warming, gently dry finish.
