#2 History
A pioneering distillery of the Irish whiskey revival, founded in 1987 by John Teeling on the Cooley Peninsula, County Louth. It turned a former industrial plant into Ireland's first independent distillery in over a century and was central to the category's resurgence. It batch-distils in copper pot stills and is known for its pot still, malt and grain whiskeys, including The Tyrconnell, Connemara, Kilbeggan and Greenore. Today it is part of Suntory Global Spirits.
