Yoichi Distillery

Nikka's founding distillery, built in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru on the coast of Hokkaidō, a climate the founder compared with Scotland. Its elegant straight-necked copper pot stills, heated directly by coal (the karu method), still produce a malty, smoky, mineral whisky with the salty breeze of Ishikari Bay.
