Shizuoka Distillery

Taiko Nakamura's 'wild' distillery in the Oku-Shizuoka gorge on the Abe river. In 2015 it bought Karuizawa's equipment — including the legendary steam-heated 'K' still — and brought it back to life; its wood-fired 'W' still (Forsyths) is the world's only operational direct-flame whisky still. Home to Shizuoka's first cedar washbacks and spring water from the Nakakaouchi river.
