Glengyle Distillery

Campbeltown distillery originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, brother of Springbank's founder, which closed in 1925 and lay silent for almost eighty years. It was reopened in 2004 by J&A Mitchell (the Springbank family) and produces the Kilkerran single malt, named after the old Gaelic place-name for Campbeltown. Its spirit, distilled from barley floor-malted at Springbank, is somewhat lighter and sweeter than that of its sister.
