Penderyn Peated

Penderyn

Description

700ml presentation. Region: Wales This whisky has a delicate spirit with a medium peaty character and a light golden hue. Bottled at 46% vol. This whisky is Kosher certified. Penderyn Distillery is the home of Welsh whisky and produces award-winning single malt whiskies and liqueurs on the slopes of the Brecon Beacons in southern Wales. A second distillery in Llandudno opened in 2021, and a third is planned for Swansea in winter 2022. Our whisky still is a single copper pot that produces a spirit of extraordinary strength and purity, designed by Dr. David Faraday, descendant of the Victorian scientific innovator Michael Faraday. Since 2013 we have a pair of these stills. While most Scottish and Irish distilleries use a conventional two or three-still ‘lantern’ system, the technology developed at Penderyn allows us to produce an exceptionally clean spirit from a single still. In 2014 we commissioned a pair of Scottish-style ‘lantern’ stills, allowing us to experiment with new whiskies. TASTING NOTES Nose: Opens with a sweet, aromatic smoke. Beneath this, distinctive notes of vanilla, green apple and refreshing citrus. Palate: A variety of soft flavours that tempt even the most sophisticated palate. Finish: Smoke and vanilla persist in the attractive, medium-length finish. Balance: Light smoke/citrus fruit.
