🇮🇪 Ireland
Glendalough Double Barrel
Glendalough
Description
700 ml presentation. Region: Wicklow. Upon its release, this whisky won double gold at The World Spirits Competition in San Francisco. It really is an Irish whisky that will make you think twice about Irish whisky. A charming, light, and drinkable whisky that is also complex with a depth of flavour beyond its years. Double-aged in casks from distant corners of the world, the flavours are a game of two halves. American oak bourbon casks bring sweet honey and gentle vanilla notes, laying the foundation of flavours. Spanish oak oloroso casks overlay nutty and dried fruit flavours. To find the finest oloroso casks, we went off the beaten track to the small Andalusian town of Montilla, birthplace of the famous PX grape. Here we can speak one-on-one with the producers, choose the bodega, the liquid, the seasoning time, and finally the casks — giving us more influence over the flavours in our Double Barrel whisky. TASTING NOTES Nose: Rich with dark fruits — cherries, raisins, figs, and Christmas pudding. Floral notes with lemongrass, citrus, and a touch of nutmeg. Palate: Sweet and smooth, with caramel, honey, peppercorns, dried fruits, maraschino cherries, and brown sugar. Finish: Spiced ginger, a hint of almonds, and earthiness.
