#2 History
A Highland single malt distillery located in Blackford, Perthshire, at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands. Founded in 1949 on a site with brewing history dating back to 1488, when King James IV purchased beer here. It produced whisky until 1995 when it was mothballed, then reopened in 2003. Since 2011 it has been owned by the French firm Picard Vins & Spiritueux. Notable for its first-fill bourbon barrels and water from the Danny Burn in the Ochil Hills.
