The NIKKA Whisky Distilling Company, founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru — husband of the fellow pioneer Rita — is the house behind the Yoichi and Miyagikyo single malts and their Coffey-still grains. From its Tokyo headquarters it brings together malts and grains from both distilleries into blends such as the intense From The Barrel, re-casked in a marriage staging before bottling.
