Lagg Distillery

Second distillery of Isle of Arran Distillers, sister to Lochranza, opened to the public in June 2019 in the parish of Kilmory in the south of the Isle of Arran. It produces exclusively heavily peated whisky (barley malted at around 50 ppm phenols) and revives the name of the old legal Lagg distillery, closed in 1837, in an area once famous for its illicit stills. Designed by Denham Benn, with a green roof and panoramic visitor centre. The spirit is distilled twice in two handmade copper pot stills, at almost twice the speed of Lochranza.
