Bunnahabhain Distillery

Founded in 1881 in a remote cove on Islay's northeast shore, it is the island's northernmost distillery and was reachable only by boat for decades. Famous for its unpeated flagship range, its pear-shaped stills — the tallest on Islay — and its warehouses beside the Sound of Islay, which lend coastal salinity to an elegant, richly sherried style.
